Part of my series inspired by the song Patches by one of my favorite artists, Stephen Wilson Jr.
 
After years of experimenting with abstracts, I'm really excited how this patchwork effect reflects the Americana style that pulls at me so deeply. Each of these abstracts takes multiple layers and constant reworking of the patches in both shape and color to achieve the right composition and color harmony.
 
I love the bright red paired with the lighter lavender in this one. It reminds me of when the weather would turn in the Midwest growing up. We'd ride our bikes to Dairy Queen and smell the Lilacs on the way.
